On the riverbank of Seiça is home to the rare brook lamprey (Lampreta planeri), and supplies water to irrigated agriculture and vigorous riverine vegetation. Some authors even suggest that the toponym derives from salix, a Latin word that is associated with the existence of willows.
Along the river some mills can be seen, most of which are in a poor state of conservation.
Seiça is one of the oldest parishes in the municipality of Ourém, with a date of foundation in 1517 by charter of D. João III, also obtaining at that time
The existence of several Quintas (manor houses), show the history and development of this parish. Quinta de Seiça stands out, dating from 1606, belonging to the Alvim family, descendants of Nuno Álvares Pereira, a family that also has Quinta da Mota and Quinta da Olaia in this parish. There are still others that deserve to be highlighted: Quinta da Alcaidaria-Mor, Quinta da Tacoaria, Quinta da Sorieira, Quinta de Alquidão and Quinta do Engenho, part of Casa dos Pinheiros, Rural tourism.
Other events marked the history of this parish, just like the French Invasions (1810), which destroyed, stole and burned everything. This was led by Napoleon's General, Louis Henri Loison, better known as The Terrible One-armed, who, according to oral tradition, committed many atrocities in the region.
The Seiça of today has, like modern settlements, its houses lined up along National Road 113 and its branches, as most of them have been built for just over half a century.
